The Best Way To Feel Good About Yourself: Give A Little
One cannot expect anything from others without a willingness to give in return.
Even better, start out by giving.
During all of our “resets,” we were happiest when we gave in one way or another.
Those of you who volunteer your time know exactly what I mean.
The moral of the story is to give back. It leads to a heightened sense of wellbeing.
A Business Story About Giving
We used to give a “no strings attached” free workout in our fitness business before a potential client decided whether or not they wanted to move forward with us.
We would spend plenty of time with them, train them just like a regular client, answer their questions and then send them on their way.
It was shocking how many people were confused by this process. Based on experience, they expected to be sat down and taken through “the sales process.”
We always followed up within a few hours and then the next day.
On rare occasions, we knew that person would not return because it just wasn’t the right fit.
Even knowing this, we always felt so good giving them the best service we could. Their appreciation usually paid off when they sent us solid leads without us asking.
The Point Of Giving
There are two important points.
- When we gave our time, we felt happy. To us, it seemed like nothing.
- When we gave our time we eventually got a monetary return on our invested time.
But to the person on the receiving end, it was super valuable.
In other words…
What you put out, the universe sends back. Experience has proven this a true statement for all our situations.
How and what you give is up to you. What matters is that you take action!
Because in business and regular life, you need to give to get!
